Club runs - 22nd January

Another wet day, another reduced attendance...however the rain didn't turn out to be so bad after the roll-out, so I'm sure the 15 people who made it out enjoyed hosing their bikes down when back at home. Good to see all three nominated leaders turn up, which shows excellent dedication to the cause.

This week's rides are:

A: Volunteer required
B: Kenilworth - Neil Orchard, the CW hill-climbing specialist
C: Evesham or Wedges - Colin Groves

DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF ICE, PLEASE CHECK THIS MB ON SUNDAY MORNING TO ENSURE RIDE STATUS.

Alternatively, see Philip Whiteman's below post if you fancy the muddy, mountain biking option that will go ahead whatever the weather.

We've got a bit becalmed in having new volunteer leaders, especially on the A-ride, so be good if these infamous diaries get peered at and dates suggested.

I'll take the C run to Evesham on Sunday.

It currently looks as if there will be a light frost on the night of Saturday-Sunday. If the forecast proves correct, my guess is that Sunday will be one of those days when there are isolated slippery patches in the lanes first thing, but the roads are clear by mid/late morning.

Will that influence any of the run leaders' plans?

My plans are likely to change George. I'll take a view on Sunday and get a consensus from the group. A gritted route to Evesham would be a bit busy for my liking.

A reasonable plan B might be to do a long loop to a more local café on some quieter main roads with a short hop back. Somewhere like Wedges Bakery - unless anyone has any other café suggestions. Around 50 miles.

Yeah I saw that as well George, if it's really bad I'll postpone my B run until the following Sunday, will post on here early this Sunday morning.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB RUN - SUNDAY

As road conditions threaten to be icy, how about a return of a rough stuff ride through the Wyre Forest, starting from Button Oak?

The route will be nothing too loopy given my slowness and inadequate skills off-road

Suggested departure time 0930, starting here

Cafe stop at the Forest Cafe.

Thanks for the updates. Unfortunately, I don't do MTB and from our house Kenilworth is a bit far for January.

In my neck of the woods, conditions were reasonably good this morning, despite the overnight frost. So tomorrow I'm inclined to stick to my original plan and ride to Evesham, but with the first hour or two on classified roads. I realise that the C run may (for good reasons) opt for a different destination, but I prefer to take the risk of dining alone than to head for a destination that isn't quite as convenient for me. Enjoy the ride, if I don't see you.

Todays C runners

Colin Groves (L)

Dave Cox met us at the Black Horse but did his own thing on account of his BMX

Good food at the pub (was called the Tilted Wig I think) - and a log burner too which was welcome.

Colin,
Thanks for leading, a very enjoyable ride despite it being a bit chilly and a very comfortable cafe.
