Club runs -12th Feb

Post by WorcsPhil » 05 Feb 2017 22:05

Early post this week...

We managed four runs on Sunday, and over 30 riders, a good turnout for another wintry day. Thanks to Ian for the impromptu A-run, and the Neil and John for very popular B and C runs. Special thanks to George for leading the Intro ride, and welcome to those on their first club run. Come again, sometimes, we even dress in summer garb.

We're in a February lull for leaders, pre-Snowdrop Audax before a rush to volunteer afterwards, so take advantage of this and ...well, you know what to do. This week's rides are:

A: Volunteer required
B: Alcester - Andy Deere
C: Destination TBC - Helen Jamieson

I'll take the C run. Destination tbc.
I've not been on the road bike for a while, so it'll be at nice pace.

As long as there's no snow, I'll take the C to leaminton. Cafe locks advisable.

Being a wuss, I'm gonna call it early... Due to my dislike of road bikes and slippery surfaces (and a certain "aqua planing" incident last year!!) I won't be leading the C run tomorrow.

However if anyone fancies going out on the mtb's, let me know.

Cheers

If there's snow again in the morning, or it's freezing or below overnight, I won't be leading (or out) tomorrow morning.

A short and sweet B Run to Halfpenny Green today.

Given the arctic conditions there were only 6 hardy souls out this morning.

Nick Shenton (Leading)
Paul Johnson
Neil Orchard
Andy Wrightson
Ian Simpson
Vince Tenant

James Tate (Was at the Black Horse first thing but peeled off for an early finish before the cafe)

Thanks to those who attended & hope you all warm up soon!

Chapeau for looking out the window at ten to eight this morning and deciding that what you really wanted to do today was lead a club run! Ditto to Si. It was pretty horrid out there.

On the unofficial second C ride today:

Andy Terry

With reports of 'arctic conditions' back home, we started out with temperatures in mid-20s by riding through Medellin city (they close some of the roads to cars on Sundays) to the base of the main climb.
Ascending 1,076m over 25km I managed to uphold the Beacon honour by taking 3rd on the segment today. After re-fuelling (soup, meat, rice, potato) we continued with a tough undulating section through cattle country to our final destination Santa Rosa de Osos.

Good one, Andy...think we should have a post to the 'Beacon Bottles on tour' thread....or at least the 'club runs cafe' thread

Give our regards to the Quintana brothers.
