Club runs - 2nd April

So we did go from having no A-run to having no B-run, but it's early days on the 'Great move up' experiment, and things are looking good for this week.

On Sunday we had 31 people out on the two rides despite it being Mother's Day, which was a good effort. There were a couple of mechanicals resulting in abandoned rides, which was unfortunate, but hopefully everyone made it back home safely without too much of a dent in their bank balances.

We're into April now, with summer bikes and sunny dispositions not too far away...so come along this week and ride over four different rides, which are:

A: Malvern - Paul Johnson (08:15 start)
B: Arley - Andy Terry
C: Volunteer required

Intro Ride: Volunteer and support required.

This is a perfect week for some C-riders to ride out with Andy on the B-ride, which will no doubt be a textbook B-ride, so close to the guidelines that you'd need an electron microscope to spot any differences. However, it does need one of the 16-20 regulars on the C-ride to volunteer to lead this Sunday. Also good if we can have a volunteer for the Intro ride, as we have 2-3 people emailing as to joining the club with the intention of turning up this week.

How far is the B ride this weekend?

On this week's reclassified ride we are not going to try and make a silk purse out of sow's ear so anyone who has rode on my B run's before it will be exactly the same pace no faster or slower. Anyway this week's route will be 86 miles with 6,000ft of climbing we will go out via Stourport and Knightwick stop at the British Camp Malvern and return via Upton and Droitwich lumpy on the way out flat on the way back.

It will be 75-80 km (45-50 miles) - it's quite hilly so I expect pace will be nearer 14 than 16mph

Barring any mishaps between now and Sunday, I'll be moving up to the B, looking forward to it Andy.

Think everyone will unless a C-ride leader comes forward.

Plan C for the C-ride is just turn up at 9am on Sunday and pick a C-ride destination on the day, there's always a decent number of people who will be there.

I'm not sure whether to advise enquirers that the intro ride is cancelled or tell them to turn up in the hope that something will happen as it normally seems to.

I told someone who was asking about the intro ride on the Facebook group that he'd be welcome on one of the regular rides as he seemed relatively experienced. I hope that was OK.

Not sure if this was supposed to be an intro ride or C run!
As I was volunteered at the Black Horse I hadn't checked the cafe so we looped round Julie's & Lin's to finally have coffee & beans on toast at Gaudet Luce.

Good ride Paul. Really enjoyable. I think Ryan's name needs adding.

For the sanity of fellow riders, I have just replaced my bottom brackets.

Second B / C group

A lovely sunny day broke out after the initial chilly start. Lots of riders at the BH this morning, too many for one B group, so a bit of organisation was required to accommodate some Intro riders, some new B riders and the usual C group. Special thanks to Dave Little for taking a small group of new riders to Droitwich (3 points and chapeau, I think!)

Riders to day (C) were as follows;

Si Walker (Leading)
Mark McConkey
Mark Gardner
Neil Evanson
Vincent Bulso
Gemma Johnson
Adrian McHugh
Alberto Recchioni (welcome to the Beacon and well done meeting up with us after only flying into the country yesterday!)
