Club runs - 16th April

What a beautiful day to be out cycling last Sunday, and nearly every Beacon member went out somewhere no doubt, be that the 31 on club runs, or those racing or merely pootling around in our ones or twos.

The inexperienced club run leaders coped well with the responsibility of leading, and all remarked in full Johnson-tones "it's so easy and rewarding leading, isn't it - anybody could do it"

It's Easter this weekend, and it's the second in a series of Alternative club runs for the year (the first being off-roading in Cannock a month or so back), this week, the Pied Piper of Iverley, Nick Shenton will be enticing riders up to Stone in Staffordshire for a ride culminating in a Belgian bar - please see Nick's post for more details.

More traditional club rides will also happen, however, and are listed below:

A: Volunteer required
B: Beacon burst led by Colin Groves
C: Lavender Hall - Dave Cox

I'd particularly encourage one of the traditional B-riders to lead the A-ride this week. Don't forget that there are no club rides next Sunday, as it's Beacon's Little Mountain Time Trial, so get the wanderlust out of your system this week

B run burst route is 50 miles BH to BH. The route heads out towards Warwick, furthest point is Hatton, 1400 feet gain.

Aim to be back by 12:30 barring mechanicals.

Due to the poor weather forecast tomorrow I shall be postponing the Alternative club ride until a future date.

Full details soon.

12 riders out on the burst today - my apologies, you're going have to fill in the gaps for me.

Colin Groves (L)
Vince Tennant
Phil Richards
Si Walker
Andy Wrightson

...and 7 other svelte riders.

Thanks to all who took a turn on the front - which allowed me to sit in.

Anyone get a handle on average speed?
