Club runs - 2nd July

Post by WorcsPhil » 26 Jun 2017 09:05

Well, what a spiffing weekend. Not only was it the 500kms club run weekend, with 17 people involved, but there were other notable Beacon performances around the country. I know Anne and Dave Hughes were competing at the European Masters Triathlon and National road races respectively, but I don't have news (from my limited feed of Strava or facebook)how they got on??...and Jess Rhodes-Jones rode the National 50 mile TT, and finished in the top 10 in a time of exactly 2 hours...congrats Jess.

The 500kms club run was very tough with unfortunately Andy crashing and an occasional descent down the wrong mountain, but everybody got there and got back safely (mostly)...we may even do another one next year. On the flip side, big Beacon-love out to Carolyn and Andy on their recovery from weekend crashes.

Thanks also to the ride leaders on the three more conventional club runs on Sunday, that's to Rob Wade, Phil Elwall and Pete Norman...Pete's C-rides are always popular and again so this time, with loads of riders out with him to Flyford Flavell. Phil - please can you post B-riders on the message board for my records....thanks.

This weekend, we have the three normal club run opportunities, there was some discussion of a midnight run, but note this has been postponed, so support your Sunday club runs and come out.

Intro ride this week also, please can we have a leader and support, these are popular this time of the year and a source of future members, so please step forward please.

This weeks rides:
A: Ray's Farm - Phil Richards
B: Cobhouse Fisheries - Paul Johnson
C: Hilliers café, Alcester - Dave Cole

Intro: Volunteer and support required

Please note that the proposed Midnight club run has been postponed, so save your energy for the normal Sunday club runs...Let's have a B-ride leader please!

Thanks for a good route today Phil.
It there may have been a bit more than the odd pimple but it was nice to use some unfamiliar roads and see some great countryside.
I hope everyone made it home after some people followed Neil who was not going to the Black Horse.

Here were the A-riders on the trifle hilly A-ride to Ray's Farm:

Phil Richards (Leading)
Leonie Balter
Jamie Dennis
Phil Elwell
Ryan Evanson
Phil Gameson
Neil Lynch
Martin Vowles

Great to see nearly 40% of the riders called Phil, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, we had no intermediate pee-stops...fine bladder work by all the riders!

Finally, particular kudos to Leonie who competed and won the Timberhonger 10k running race yesterday evening and yet was still out today on the A-run.
