Club runs - 5th November

Another pleasant autumnal day saw 26 riders out on the 2 club runs. We seem to have stagnated around this number for a few weeks, and this may coincide with late leaders being declared, but let's put this theorem to the test this week when we almost have a full set of leaders, and I'm sure that a C-ride leader will step up by Wednesday

This week's shout out for notable achievement is for John Hunt who represented Beacon at the National Hill Climb championships in Northumberland, and blasted up a 7.5% hill at nearly 15mph...great stuff, John...hope your lungs are ok!

Another eventful A/B run this week, where I think the Beacon contingent were louder in the café than the screaming group of toddlers in the playpen next door...don't know about you, but that made me proud...a fine ride led by Paolo, in his usual inimitable style. Thanks to Pete and Si for the C-ride double leader day out to the airport.

This week's rides are as follows, and as it's the first Sunday of the month, it would be great if we could get an Intro leader and support. Enjoy your week....and please give Toby a welcome back to Sunday riding after a lengthy collar bone lay-off

A: Wyre Forest - Toby Draper
B: Spiders Web at Albrighton - Nick Shenton
C: Wootton Wawen - Pete Norman

Intro ride: Earlswood, led by Dave Cox supported by Gemma Johnson

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most surprising of sources. I haven't crossed the Severn in a while.
Lets go to the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre this Sunday

Hi Gemma. It depends on who turns up of course it is a variable feast! No more that 30 miles probably a bit less I'll vary loops to suit the group.

On what promised by the weatherman to be a nice, fine & dry day it actually turned out to be a Wet, filthy & cold one.

Still at least everyone's bikes had mudguards

On today's quite filthy B ride to Spiders Web were:

Nick Shenton (Leading)
Dom Walker
Paul (Why are we going up that F**king hill) Johnson
Andy Wrightson
Vince (Magical invisible mudguard) Tennant
Neil Lynch
Joe Warwood
Gaz Faulknell
Inderjit Singh

A Run to Wyre Forest Visitor Centre

Andy (orange bike don't know surname) decided descretion was the better part of valour between Clent and Cookley.

Neil Orchard **flat**d just before the Severn Crossing and Adam Green just after. As Adam repaired his, Phil Elwell had decided his gearing was insufficient to power him over the remaining climbs and turned back.

At the cafe;

Toby Draper (leading)
Neil Orchard
Adam Green

George Barker arrived around the same time as us, surpisingly, after a similarly eventful ride out.
