Right with just over 4 weeks to go hope you are are getting the miles in just to say there are no changes to the route or the stops but to make it clear i don't know what the Mcdonalds menu is like at 3.30am so i would recommend bringing enough food and water to last till we get to Towcester(111 miles)because the options to stop are very limited. So please don't turn up with one bottle and no food Vincent,Hope to see you all on the 23rd.

Well where to start with this ride, the magnificent 7 started at 00:15am after risking life and limb meeting at The Black Horse at midnight on a friday night!!
Comedy moment early on in Droitwich with a fat drunk bloke singing "Jolene"(brave choice of song) in the middle of the road while attempting to twerk, followed by over hundred miles in freezing conditions half of it in the dark.Andy unfortunately abandoned after 200km after being knocked off his bike the day before can't decided whether he was brave or stupid to even start the ride.(Get well soon)
Then followed a horrendously undulating into a headwind section before we arrived at Tugby(everyone to a man said they can't wait to go to Leicestershire again. ).Then it just became a war of attrition to the finish with varying degree's of suffering!!(Hopefully no one will suffer from P.T.S.D) :D

For posterity the 7 men true and fair are as follows :-

Paul Johnson(L)
Jon Williams
Phil"Down with the Youths"Richards
Vincent Tennant
Nick"Stelvio"Shenton
Robert Wade
Andy Wrightson

500km next year?

I don't know whether to thank you or send the boys round to knee cap you Paul, but for all the suffering it was a great, well executed ride.

You know its a tough ride when in the 15 hours+ we were together hardly anyone spoke much whilst riding.

As for a 500km ride, well you can..... right off

Yes, thanks, Paul. This distance ain't easy because of the sleep deprivation...Having done one that started at 7am and one at midnight, I think I slightly prefer the former, as you only get tired towards the end, whereas, being a softie, I just felt sleepy all day, especially at the cafes. The one where we started at 7am meant we had some sleep before we started and we seemed more lively during the day and at the cafes...

But, whenever you start, the sheer time it takes to ride this distance tests your mentality to continue - we all had low moments, and it's good to remember when you're feeling good or feeling sh**e, it won't last.

Interesting moments at Evesham at 03:20, when we all had that overwhelming urge to play 'duelling banjos' with the local hoodlums. The loud one did seem particularly interested in knowing how expensive our shoes were. Perhaps his dad was a cobbler. Or a pig squealer?

Anyway, thanks to all of you for sticking with it, and here's to the next stupid adventure. Beacon Randonneurs!

Congrat's all kudo's for completing the challenge!

If Paul wants a 500k challenge you could travel down to the Isle of Sheppey and complete Chase the Sun (327km), then "just" cycle home (200km) from Weston-Super-Mare.

You know, just for giggles...

Well, I suppose I ought to offer some form of tepid congratulations on what was a perfectly adequate yet unremarkable ride. ;;-)
