Club runs - 28th January

Another weekend full of snow, ice, rain, pestilence, locusts and damnation resulted in cancelled club runs. There were a few hardy souls spotted on social media venturing outside to slip and slide around, but ultimately the indoor turbo saw plenty of action for Beacon members again....harrumph! :(

Can someone video the ride from the Black Horse to Evesham and back so we can all ride it together in some virtual club run in the warmth of our dungeons, complete with homemade bread pudding. I'll put it to the committee.

Anyway, let's try again...it again promises a better Sunday this weekend :D (I said that last week), so volunteers wanted to lead this old-fashioned outdoor cycling lark. This week's rides are:

A: Volunteer required
B: Wellesbourne - James Tate
C: Stourport - Pete Norman

Weather looks good, so I'll lead a B run to the breakfast baguette place in Wellesbourne...(assuming I don't crash and injure myself in the races on Sat)

Please don’t crash as I’ll invariably have to take your club run and we all know what will happen, it’ll flippin snow again

Thanks James and Pete...can we have an A-run leader please!!! Weather looks set fair at 12c and dry, so there will probably be over 30 riders out on Sunday, so it will be good if we have 3 equal-ish groups, giving choice to whoever turns up.

Thanks

Phil

I love it when the club run comes out almost past my front door. Thanks Pete.

The Sette Dodici ride leaves from Bristol Street in Birmingham at 7:12 (hence the name). The Saturday morning ride from Bromsgrove is probably Speeds, but that starts a bit later. Some people have been known to combine the two!

I have combined the two on several occasions and Terry Carroll used to do it regularly. However he used to complete his runs whilst I didn't! I once had the accolade of being the only person I have heard of to do 'the triple'. That was; set off on the Sette Dodici 7:12 and get dropped up Tardebigge hill. Latch onto the 7:15 (newly created and which I didn't know existed) when they caught me labouring up Rose hill. Then dropped again on Hopwood, I turned for home and then thought, why not? So I then proceeded to Bromsgrove to start the Speeds bash. I' guessing you all know what happened next. Home by 11:00am.
Sometimes these old legs let me down.

Oh and the Speeds bash used to be 9:30 from the shop. (Now deceased. R.I.P.)

The first two thirds are brisk but not ridiculous in terms of speed. It heads out towards Hanbury, Himbleton thence up towards Headless Cross after which it is absolute flat-out chain gang along the Alvechurch Highway back into Redditch.
