Club runs - 11th March

Post by WorcsPhil » 05 Mar 2018 10:57

Andy Wrightson. He turned up. no one else did. He extends his lead in journey towards the club run trophy, and keeps his perfect record (illness excluded) in this club run season, is there any weather event that won't deter him!

Anyway, with the parky weather now behind us, and endless sunny days and warmth ahead, it's time to re-energise the Beacon club runs. Come along and see what they're all about, and volunteer to lead a few on the Jan/Feb/March thread or even the Apr/May/June thread which will (has) just appear(ed). We even need a leader or two this Sunday, what an opportunity!

They can be fun, very social, and sometimes involve bacon, beans or toast.

This week's rides are:

A: Volunteer required
B: Wyre Forest Café - Philip Whiteman
C: Hilliers Farm - Si Walker

I'll take the B Run this Sunday to Wyre Forest. Happy to combine with A run if necessary but it will be at B run pace.

New member Judy Smart is coming on the C ride tomorrow - be good to have a leader volunteer and to see some other women riders out to keep her company.

I'll lead the C ride to Hilliers Fram Cafe, it is 50 miles out and back from the Black Horse. Take a coat as we may be in for a drop of rain.

On a lovely mild and sunny day the C riders to Hillier's Farm cafe were;

Si Walker (leading)
George Barker (at the cafe)
Dave Cox
Neil Evanson
Colin Hall
Helen Jamieson
Gemma Johnson
Dave Little
Pete Norman
Judy Smart
Andy Terry
Si Turner

Excellent speedy service at the cafe which was very busy, we even sat outside!

Right where do I start with this one!
Dr Whiteman had to cancel leading as he split the nail on the little toe on his left foot, we ventured to halfpenny green airport instead lead mainly by Alistair Hey.
One flat, one broken chain, a dodgy front wheel and a few hills all thrown in along with Andy mcgrath being clipped by a speeding car on his elbow which was enough to knock him off! He's ok but the car didn't even stop!
A run pace today with bread pudding which came a close second to Evesham 's offerings.
Riders in ALPHABETICAL ORDER.

Alistair Hey
Neil Lynch
Andy Mcgrath
Neil Orchard
Ade Ravenscroft

Many thanks Neil for being a last minute substitute. I had a stuffed tyre on my way in this morning. So had to limp back to Drayton. It did however provide an opportunity and time for a complete post-winter bike strip down.

My word that A/B club run seems a little hectic. Main point, how is/was Andy?

Andy was ok Dave, just a bit shaken as we all would be, we were on a narrow country lane and the car came at some speed, it's wing mirror caught his elbow.
