Club runs - 26th August

34 riders out on the weekend's three club runs...it's like a return to our glory years...of last year, and our first time over 30 riders for weeks! Fun, isn't it?

Thanks to me, John/Phil G, and Dave Cole for leading the three rides, and good to ride in middling temperatures, where as nice Brits we moan if the temperature is outside the 18-21c range. It is only inside this range that we're happy.

Big shout out to Ade Ravenscroft for organising the kids cross event on Saturday, and to Matt Clegg, who's back from Utrecht after a year away, and thrown himself back into racing in the Beacon colours...catch him and others such as Gavin, John etc at a race near you soon.

It's Bank Holiday Week this week, so a great week to come out on club runs. This week's rides will no doubt provide the range and variety to please everybody on two wheels, and if it doesn't.... well, why not suggest something below!

This week's rides are:

A: 200kms club run cancelled
B: Wellesbourne - James Tate
C: Beacon Burst - Dave Cole

Matt Clegg, who's back from Utrecht after a year away,

Matt, During your travels did you by any chance encounter Dr. Stabismus (whom God preserve) of Utrecht.

This Sunday's A Run is probably one of the last opportunities to do an extended club run so I'll be leading a 200km ride from Northfield as far North as Stone in Staffordshire.

The first cafe stop will be at 48 miles in Newport, Shropshire but there will be an opportunity to pick up snacks at the Co-Op in Brewood en-route.

We then head up to Eccleshall where we have the option of stopping off at the Mercx bar for a Belgian beer before the short ride to Stone, the Northerly most point of the ride.

From here we head South East skirting past Shugborough Hall before our final cafe stop in Penkridge.

The stops from Newport are not hard and fast and we can decide where and when we stop as there will be plenty of opportunities along the route.

The weather is currently looking good if not a bit cooler than of late.

I'd suggest an earlier than normal start for this so meet at The Black Horse at 7:15am for a 7:30am start.

Update on Sunday's proposed 200km ride:

The weather has decided to be its typical Bank Holiday self over the weekend.

Depending on which weather report you look at there is some heavy rain and windy conditions forecast for Sunday. I'll check the forecast again tomorrow and make a decision late on if i'm still going ahead with the planned ride.

Tomorrow's 200km ride is cancelled due to heavy rain forecast for much of the day.

I may be out in the morning to lead another shorter A Run but this depends how bad it is first thing.

B run will also be shortened depending upon peoples willpower to suffer in the rain. I will make a choice at the BH and see who's foolish enough to come out to play today. <@>
