Club runs - 30th September

well, another Sunday of rain meant that only three riders ventured out on Sunday, and fair play to them...This was a week where the forecast was terrible, but the weather on the day wasn't too bad, but people had already made alternative arrangements (including me)...harrumph.

Anyway, kudos to Rob, James and Andy for riding in the rain, and others meriting Beacon kudos include Andy (again), Jon Williams and Sarah for riding a very wet 200kms audax on Saturday, and our very own TCR racer, Stuart White who rode the Blackpool-Glasgow-Blackpool 600kms at the weekend. The other notable mention goes to Mark Patton who rode and won a hill climb on Saturday...good work all!

The new club run season starts on October 6th, and for this season ride leaders will receive 3 points for leading, and if you lead an Intro, then you'll get 4 points...We appreciate that people won't be too excited by this change, but it rewards those who lead more than previously, so worth the change.

It's the last Sunday of the 2017/2018 Club run season this Sunday, and the weather is looking good at present, so let's have a bumper attendance, all dragged along by having early volunteers to lead. Can we have a B and C-ride leader, PLEASE!!!

Anyway, this weeks' rides are:

A: Beacon Burst 50-60 miler - Stuart White
B: Kenilworth - Neil Orchard
C: Kenilworth - Dave Cole

Hi All,

This Sunday I was thinking of leading a 50-60 miler with the coffee stop being at the end rather than mid way
Would anybody be adverse to this particular plan?

Stu, as leader, you can suggest what you want, one kilometre club run, 500kms club run, it’s the leaders prerogative, although surely no one will suggest the latter :D

...and your plan may encourage a few more who need to get back early to come along, as you’ll be back in Northfield well before 1pm.

Go for it!

Hi,

The C run averages between 12-14mph, but they're a friendly lot so I'm sure they'll not be leaving you at a garden centre in the middle of nowhere.

Like paul said its your prerogative as leader but I personally think it would be a weclome change from the norm rather than stopping half way through

Sunday A-Run,
https://www.strava.com/routes/15380890

Just shy of 60 miles with a few little lumps to work up an appetite for a coffee and cake at the end. I've got a few places in mind for when we get back, but we'll choose based on how many of us there are, if it's over 50 then it'll be Kings Norton McDonald's.

Hi Stu - I'm planning on heading out with the A run for an hour or so then peeling off home, hope that's ok!

The B run ran smoothly and incident free today, the cafe were ever so very slightly stressed but we eventually got our food.
Riders were-
Laurie Derbyshire
Paul Derbyshire
Alistair Hey
John (why haven't you got a garmin) Hitchcock
Andy Mcgrath
Pete Norman
Neil Orchard (leading)
Seb Perkins
Luca Tinnirello (should definitely have a pinnarello)
Si Walker
Alan Weaver
Andy Wrightson
A warm Beacon welcome to Seb on his first club run, don't forget a bottle next time Seb! ;;-)

C run to Kenilworth.
Straightforward club run no incidents. Cafe very good as usual very quick service (for me anyway). No problems for our new rider Mariana who will probably be joining the B run soon.

Dave Cole (leader)
Dave Little
Adrian McHugh
David Stevenson
Mariana Sorrill
Neil Evanson
Mark McConkey
Mark Gardner

Dave and Anne Hughes joined us for the first 15 miles

A Run to, well, Birmingham

An honest paced, 60 miler without a stop, out to find a few lumps and then back for a coffee. Cafe Morso, Barnt Green was closed so we carried on to Gorilla for après-ride.
The A (run) Team comprised of:

Stuart White
Phil Richards
Omar Khaled-Smith
Vince Tennant
James Brookes
Paul Johnson
Phil Elwell
Jon Williams
Jess Rhodes-Jones

C run was more than I can handle as a 'fat little trackie'. So fast I had to ask DC to slow down up to the man on the moon. I'm sticking to intro rides in future.
