Well, that was a fun weekend, with many Beacon riders out riding...
Saturday was an Audax day, so typically the day was greeted with pelting rain and a huge drop in temperature, but there was still a big Beacon turnout on Philip Whiteman's Beyond the Dyke Audax. Fantastic organisation as ever by Phil, with loads of nice nosh at the end.
Sunday saw the regional hill climb championships at Shelsley Walsh and congrats to Tessa Sandberg and Jess Rhodes-Jones in the women's race and Mark Patton/Ben Crone in the men's...I haven't seen the results but sprinting up that hill ain't easy, so kudos to all.
BUT, of course, there was a Hughes riding, and huge congratulations to Dave Hughes for winning for GB in the 4k team pursuit at the Masters Track World Championships in Los Angeles. This was the first of his many events this week, and he's started with a GOLD! Well done, Dave!
Club runs also went out in every direction... we had over 32 riders out over at least 4 rides, so thanks to Nick to leading the A to Evesham, and Chris Ashford who took the B out to watch the hill climb and forming 'Beacon Corner'. Also to Si Walker for taking the C ride on the day, and to Pete Norman in particular for leading the October Intro ride.
This week's rides will probably fill up in the week...and are/will be
A: Wyre Forest Cafe - Philip Whiteman
B: Volunteer required
C: Volunteer required
There is also an Acadamy club run on Saturday, led by Tim Egan out to Gorcott Hill, 20 miles in total. This will leave from Rowheath Pavilion at 1pm on SATURDAY, more details here. This is designed for juniors and those new to cycling....

A RUN - SUN 14TH OCT - FOREST CAFE, WYRE FOREST.
Yes, I shall be back with vengeance after some period of quiet on club runs. Forget enjoyment, forget socialibility and forget an easy day-out; Come and join this Sunday's A Run to the Wyre Forest and see what fun is in store. Naturally I will be shouting at people who don't hold their line, half wheelers or people splitting the group, so you'd better behave. This ride is to be strictly regimented, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Well the weather is so abysmal this morning, I'm afraid that I will put out of leading the A run today.
