Club runs - 13th January

Post by WorcsPhil » 07 Jan 2019 09:59

Well, it was like a return to the post Olympics cycling craze...well over 30 riders at the Black Horse on Sunday, and around 40 riders picking up a club run point or three. Thanks to birthday-boy Ashford, Rob and Pete for leading the three rides. No doubt the mild weather helped, but despite the fact there was no ice, we had a couple of crashes on greasy roads, and I also noticed on strava, quite a few others I know also fell yesterday, so the roads are still sketchy. This has reminded me once again to update our club run guidelines with reference to what we do after accidents etc...so watch out for updates in the next couple of weeks (posted here and on Bookface)

Also, great to see the first Beacon's women's ride on Saturday morning, led by Carolyn. Despite the risk of early morning ice, there were five riders who were there, Carolyn did you get names? Can you post them somewhere so that you get the club run points, and you get more as leader...great stuff.

Anyway, we have no leaders announced yet for this week, but if we wait long enough people should emerge from their hibernation dens and go "oh yes, I can lead this week. I'd like to give something back". If you do want to give something back, either post here, or put £50 into my account. My pin number is the last four digits of pi.

Anyway, that's enough obscure mathematical jokes for now, here's this week's rides.

A: Wyre Forest Cafe - Philip Whiteman
B: Wellesbourne - Simon Turner
C: Lavender Hall - Dave Cox

Don’t forget, there is also a Women’s only ride at 08:15 on SATURDAY, led by Carolyn Clegg. Leaving from the Black Horse

I'll do the A Run.

Wyre Forest Cafe. Out via Clent; Return via Heightington.

With a forecast of gusts , this circular ride will avoid prolonged periods riding into headwinds.

I'll do a C Run to Lavender Hall - this will be old school 12-13mph direct route ideal for people who've not got out much over the holidays or stepping up from Intro. For faster harder longer lead the B run !

Thanks for leading the C run Dave, good to be back on a Beacon run after more than a year off. Nice to meet some new Beaconites too.
