Club Runs - 9th June

30 riders out on three contrasting club runs on Sunday, and thanks to Nick, Jess and Simon for leading. It's great to see, almost for the first time someone offering to lead a Beacon Burst ride even though there was already an A-ride planned. Thanks for this Jess, and congratulations for winning the Time Trial at the Tour of Cambridgeshire Gran Fondo, for being fastest female in any category, and for setting a new course record and for winning the Mixed Team Trial also...not a bad weekend's work!....Amazing riding, yet again!

This 'making the club runs relevant to you ethos' is exactly what I am encouraging as some people like long rides, and others short, I consistently encourage people on this message board to just suggest what they want to do...others will no doubt join you! You have complete freedom to suggest anything, gravel rides, 500kms, 2kms to the back end of Northfield, a traditional destination or somewhere new, variety is the spice of life, eh! There was even talk on the A-ride of foregoing our normal circuit of greasy spoon cafes and going to a Michelin starred restaurant in Ludlow at £79.95 each for a taster menu, which would be right up Paul Johnson's street...although I don't think this suggestion was serious. Andy Wrightson promised to pay for all of us.

Thanks also to Simon White for leading for the first time, the C-ride is always popular when a leader is pre-announced, so a big thanks to Simon for stepping up.

This week's ride are...

A: Destination TBC - Phil Richards
B: Volunteer required
C: Destination TBC - Colin Groves

Details of the women's Saturday ride will be posted either here or on Facebook.

This looks suspiciously unlike a post about time trials?

Alcester for the C ride - avoiding the cafe that made us sit outside last time, unless it's sunny. We can take a view.

Just over 50 miles I reckon.

Venue Expresso is usually welcoming but might be worth ringing ahead?

As Richard's post, I'm seeing this post duplicated in the 'Time Trials' section and also all other sections of the message board - is this intentional, or is something amiss?

Mysterious! I have just gone in as a moderator and cannot see why. Probably needs a greater authority on the working of phpBB to understand what is going on.

I don't know what's happened with this message appearing everywhere...perhaps, I sub-consciously want EVERYONE to see it.

In any case, PLEASE CAN WE HAVE A B-RIDE LEADER PLEASE!

The A-ride will go to Wellesbourne this week, using this unusual route
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19427604

76 miles, but plenty of opportunities to shorten it by going the direct route home...normal start time at 09:15

I'll lead a Beacon Burst, it'll be a relatively brisk 75k or so, 9.00am for a 9.15am start.

On the Burst today were:

Nic Vipond
Keith Adcock
Laurence Cooley
Gemma Johnson
John Soady

Another fairly brisk ride, thanks to everyone for rotating the turns on the front.

On today's incident free C ride were

Colin Groves (L)
Joanne Congerton
Neil Evanson
Adrian Low
Cedric Gioan
Kamran Anwar
Wayne Gibbs
Ash Turner
John Hitchcock
Claire Fudge
Dave Little
Adrian McHugh ...who after doing a great job as sweeper on the way out disappeared whilst we were fannying about trying to find the back way to the cafe avoiding the high street. Hope you got home ok.

We also had another rider not stop at the cafe and he told me his name but I've clean forgotten...I'm obviously on the slide. Sorry.

I rang ahead to the cafe as per Dave Cox's advice, we would have got a seat anyway but i think it made their reception more welcoming.

In the absence of our glorious leader Mr Richards I took the reigns on what was a swift A Run to Wellesbourne.

Nick Shenton (Leading)
Paul Johnson
Neil Lynch
Neil Orchard
Tom Jansons
Ka Li
Andy Wrightson
Phil Elwell
Fanella Brown
Vince Tenant

Thanks all, another textbook club ride.

Well, I think I might have been the sole beacon volunteer at the racing in the city centre today, an event that we were named as helping support...
Because I rode there and back, does that mean I get club run leader points?
