Club Runs - 30th June
Posted: 24 Jun 2019 10:42
Simply wonderful to see 43 riders at least out on the 4 club runs on Sunday, including some welcome returners. Clearly the Beacon Burst is proving popular in the summer for those with less time, so let's keep it going as the normal A-runs are getting longer as we build towards the clubs first ever 500kms club run in two weeks. Thanks to Jess, Neil (not Nick), Phil and Carolyn for leading the rides.
I went to spectate and help (in the end I wasn't needed as there were plenty of helpers) at the Beacon Track day on Saturday...some great racing in the adults and academy races, all marshalled with aplomb by Adrian Ravenscroft...Great job, Ade...I was agog listening to some of your orders on how to race, and the organisation was a very tight ship... We'll discuss at the next committee meeting in July how to make it even better, so if you have any ideas, post them on the thread originated by Adrian.
So, we have a couple of weeks of fine weather on the way, so let's keep the momentum strong and get the leaders named early in the week...the A-ride is one of the annual highlights this coming Sunday as it's Paul's 100miler to the Whichford Pottery Café, for the best bacon this side of Copenhagen, and a testing, straw-based, long-drop toilet facility that some find too much. Snowflakes
Anyway, this week's rides are:
Beacon Burst at A-Run pace led byIan Taylor (leaves at 09:15)
A: 100 in 7 to the Whichford Pottery Café - Paul Johnson (meet at 8am for 08:15 depart)
B: Albrighton - Nick Shenton (meet at 8am for 08:15 depart)
C: Volunteer required
There is also a Beacon Burst at C-ride speed led by Carolyn Clegg
...and there is also a women’s ride at 07:30 on SATURDAY led by Sandy Henshaw
