Club runs - 8th September

A lovely weekend for cycling saw nearly 40 people out on the 6 club runs at the weekend. Yes, you read that right, 6 rides! Surely there is something there to tempt the even the lowest mojo rider....

Thanks to all the leaders, namely Ian Taylor, Nick Shenton, Si Walker, Phil Gameson, Dave Cole and Laurie Derbyshire...excellent work all. Well done to all those on the Mad Summer Hare Sportive also, an excellent locally-run sportive by Dan and Corinne Fox who deserve success for their efforts in putting these events on.

As for this week, and this doesn't happen too often, but at present we have no named leaders for club runs, so this is an ideal week for those who rarely or never lead to put their hands up. I'll probably get ignored again, but why not just this once say that you'll do it. You can suggest anything, any café, our club is wide enough to attract other riders no matter what is suggested, even if you want a 40miler with a café stop...why not. so think on...We all look forward to seeing some new leaders coming forward this week.

This week's rides are:

A-Run Beacon Burst - Phil Elwell
A: Harvington (150kms) - James Bendle (meet at 8am for an 08:15 start)
B: Alcester - Nick Shenton
C: Arley Arboretum - Pete Norman

Hi All, Can't make the next two weekends. But volunteer to lead an A run (my first as lead!) on the 8th September. About 150km, thinking of something like this:

Thanks, Paul...you're right I did miss this...but an even bigger thanks James, you're in. Can you post below your starting time, James because if there is nothing specifically stated, the default is 09:00 meet for 09:15 depart.

...and what a start to my request, a first time A-run leader...come on B and C riders, match that!

Thanks James, now altered... A-riders, please mind you language in the Harvington café, there are normally loads of kids there and we don't want to be banned! I think it was there where I heard a comment last time from another café dweller.

...Second call for B and C ride leaders, after a first-class ignore on my first call.... Post your name here when you're ready :D

Unless someone else is really keen to lead....
I'll lead to Arley Arboretum; 47 miles 3300' climbing!

Take me to the river
And wash me down

nice café (it's open I checked!), route all on-road ( I've done it before!), its hilly (but down St. Kenelms), weather looks sunny intervals, light winds and temp double figures rising!

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31054603 - look out I've edited this route a couple of times so now joyfully ascending Sheepwalk Lane.

An absolutely glorious day of cycling!

Paul Balfe
George Barker (at the café-viva el presidente!)
Huan Dong
David Little
Geoff Mann
Adrian McHugh
Pete Norman (Lead)
David Shakespeare
Andy Wrightson

What time does the B and C Group go from the BH? Is it 9am? Just in case I can make it there instead as don’t know the B group route.

Thanks

Matt

James, I believe it was Rumbow Lane / Walton Hill Rd...maybe my favourite climb in Clent!

Yes - my bad. It was Rumbow Lane / Walton Hill Rd (without the side excursion up the Waltonburg... maybe next-time...).
