I will post about next Sunday's club runs in the next couple of days as we seek clarifications from British Cycling (BC) about exactly what is and isn't permissible for group cycling in the local lockdown areas of Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull.

There is a regional BC meeting tonight where we hope that rules and expectations will be clarified.

I participated in the virtual BC regional AGM tonight.
- When delivering her year-to-date regional review, Amy Gardner spoke about the need to follow national guidance but, in areas with local rules, to prioritise the rules outlined by the local authority.
- I chipped in and pointed out that the rules published by the LA were vague and open to interpretation. I said we would really appreciate clear guidance from BC on how to interpret the local rules: what activities are and are not permitted in the affected areas?
- Amy acknowledged that other clubs had asked for guidance as well, and she undertook to distribute guidance via Facebook and e-mail asap.

Hopefully we'll have some real clarity very soon, at which point Phil will update everyone on whether club runs can go ahead this coming weekend.

Hi all,

After much discussion, BC have confirmed to us that club runs can continue within Birmingham with our ‘new normal’ procedures. Just a reminder that we MUST:

- Stick to a maximum of 6 riders.

- The leader must take the contact details of all new people on the ride, and if you are not a Beacon member, please ensure you give your details to the leader.

- All leaders to confirm who was on the ride afterwards and list any additional stopping places over and above the stated cafe.

Apart from that, we will continue along these lines, as indeed are some other BC registered clubs.

So, please post on a separate thread for this Sunday’s rides if you can lead...and make sure everyone riding observes the general English rules on social distancing etc.
