B Run Burst - 45 miles Sun 6th December 08:30

Post by PhilG » 03 Dec 2020 08:16

I'll lead a B Run non stop 45 miles ride at about 15 mph on Sunday - 08:20 for 08:30 start.
The route is posted below and goes towards Alcester. It isn't flat, but neither is it particularly hilly.

6 riders:
Phil Gameson (Leader)
Kamran Anwar
David Bowen
Fenella Brown
Richard Leaper
Will Woodhouse

So now full up.

It it is likely to be just above freezing tomorrow, but if today is anything to go by the roads won't be icy. If it is icy in the morning I have an alternate route of approximately the same length.

Here is the route for Sunday:

It is possible you can't access it without an komoot account, so I have also attached a zipped gpx file.

Well that was all unexpectedly dramatic! For those as yet unaware, about 17 miles in I stopped with a mechanical, as my entire front brake came away from the frame! Stopping meant that the feeling came back in my fingers - along with that familiar intense pain. Although this time it appears to have been accompanied by faintness, as I came round to be told by Phil I'd just passed out! Thankfully I'm otherwise OK, apart from a sore head from the fall despite my bike helmet bearing the brunt. Fenella kindly stayed with me until her husband picked us up and took me home. I'm currently thawing out in the bath :-)

Me having some sort of drama/problem on a club run seems to be the norm these days, but this takes things up a few notches!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Richard. Don't drop your phone in the bath!

Will, sorry you missed us today. Unfortunately for you Club Runs do start pretty promptly, especially when the weather is unpleasant.

I fully understand Phil. Just took me so long to get ready this morning. Still did a 60k ride around feckenham. Pretty grim out there today.

Glad to hear you're OK, Richard. It's lucky that happened on a club run rather than a solo ride!

Thanks Laurence - and yes it was, on both counts! Although I might have carried on cautiously with one brake.

The Apple Watch has great fall detection. Great when you’re riding solo.

Glad you’re ok.
