Club runs for the weekend of 18th April

Post by WorcsPhil » 12 Apr 2021 22:32

Hi all, good to see snow and hail around at the weekend, eh? :D

Let's hope that these cold conditions retreat and that the spring warmth takes over from now on, so what better time to come out on an organised and sanctioned club ride! We have agreed that the maximum number of riders for club runs that do not stop is raised to 8 to accommodate new members wanting to come along.

but, please keep to six if a cafe/takeaway is planned, as this is the limit when stopped. If for any reason you end up with more than that, due to an unscheduled arrival, then please break into two groups, and do NOT sit/stand together at the takeaway/cafe!

In line with British Cycling guidance, we have prepared a risk assessment for all club runs, which you can find here:
http://beaconrcc.org.uk/wp-content/uplo ... 021-v2.pdf

It may not be a thrilling read (like most risk assessments), but there are a few nuggets we'd like to remind you of:

- We ask people to sign up in advance so that we align with track and trace policy.
- Guidance is given on what to do when dealing with other peoples' road rage, please don't shout back, or start a swearing competition, the advice is to simply ignore and move away...I'm sure you can do that!
- What to do in the event of an incident or accident whilst out riding.
- Please observe normal Covid-sensitive behaviour, i.e. no close gathering, or public spitting whilst riding in groups.

Other than that, we are all here to enjoy riding together and enjoying the cut and thrust of debate amongst the endless pedalling, so pick your subjects, tell your best joke, sing your best song and see you out on a club ride soon.

Usual advice, if you can lead, please post in a separate thread with details of your ride...note that some of us have somehow succumbed to temptation and will be riding Dr Whiteman's splendidly mountainous Begwyn's 200kms audax on Saturday, which should be an easy start to the long rides for the Beacon randonneurs...
