Club Runs for week ahead - NEW RULES, PLEASE READ

Post by WorcsPhil » 17 May 2021 08:12

Hi everyone, a lot to say this week as the Covid rules have changed as of Monday 17th of course and BC have offered new advice, which basically says that the numbers riding organised rides are unlimited from this date...BUT

As indoor cafes are limited to six and outdoor cafes to 30, we feel that some limits are still sensible, so....

1. For club rides that involve an INDOOR cafe stop, we will limit the ride to a maximum of EIGHT, with the proviso that the leader splits the group into two groups on arrival at the cafe

2. For non-stop Beacon Bursts, Tuesday rides and club runs that are using outdoor cafes, then the limit is increased to a maximum of TWELVE

3. However, the leader can set a lower limit of 6 or 8 at their discretion and what they feel comfortable with, and will mark the ride as RIDE FULL when this lower number is reached.

Please respect these new limits please, so get your name down to lead when a ride you fancy is full, or respond quickly as these mostly fill up fast.

In summary, we have now rides going out on Sunday, on Saturday if a leader wants that, and we now have organised Tuesday evening rides leaving at 18:30. In addition, there are also unofficial Beacon rides on Thursdays at 09:45 from the underbridge in Tardebigge, which go around 50miles with a cafe stop...come along or ask for more details if this appeals.

Hope that is all clear, and this will work successfully if you can look inside yourself and volunteer to lead the occasional ride...there is a lot of choice now in terms of riding pace and on days to ride, so come along and ride with the Beacon, you know it makes sense, Rodney. :D

As usual, post in a separate thread if you can lead a ride this week...

Big thanks to Dr Philip Whiteman again for organising a big audax on Friday to Gospel Pass, a, nicely titled the 'Skivers Day Out'. Another tough day of climbing and great to see eight Beacon members riding this and supporting these local events. We also had Stu White riding the Dambusters audax in the Peak District on Saturday in the rain, which shows the Beacon randonneurs are building up to the big Beacon rides later in the summer.
