TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
As the B run seems to be getting quicker we'll trial a B+ run and a B run this week and see how many takers we have, B+ will be 18mph (ish) and the B slightly more relaxed.
This route is pretty flat apart from the 2 climbs in Beoley so is naturally going to be quicker than weekend club runs.
Leaving Northfield Cycles at 6.30 unless stated.

I've put you both down Chris, just depends who signs up for the 2 rides, if not enough interest it might just be one B run.thomo20000 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2021 09:26Hi. Can you put Michelle for the b+ and me on the b run. Thanks.

Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
I'd like to do an A, I'd be happy to lead a second A group if you wanted to split the numbers out a bit.
Cheers,
Stu

Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
I'm almost tempted by the normal B. If it's 15mph I should hang on, but not if 17. So I will be cautious and will go on the C. Not sure whethr Helen or Dave will join. If not or if some people are a bit tight to make it for 6pm, I'm happy to delay the start to 6:15 or even 6:30
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
Geoff Mann texted me to say he's interested in the C and will only be able to confirm by text Tuesday his attendance

Can I join the A run provisionally please? I might actually be B+ on the day.
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
Hi Neil, if there’s space, I’d like to join the A run please
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
I intend to start at 6pm, but as explained, if someone prefers the C run to the B but cannot make it early enough to the Northfield Cycle shop then I'll happily delay the start a bit to 1/4 past or 1/2 past
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
Ok just stick to 6 o clock then.
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
I'll join the C please
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS

Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
just to let you know that despite the collision on the way to the club tonight I'm fine, just a couple of bruises and road rash. pleased that the bike is OK just a couple of wheels that need truing. was running a little late for the club run and took the risk to undertaking up the inside of a car that decided to turn left without indicating. Ambulance was passing so checked me over and then police turned up, luckly had amazing service. This was the one time that I had been involved in an accident that my garmin notified my wife, correctly, unlike all those other times! Thanks for the concern from the club. hope to be out again with the club soon. Stuart
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
Nice weather tonight.
Some pulling in front, some struggling at the back. Did not know how to conciliate everybody's need.
First hour at 12.6mph average and still too fast, whilst other were roaring to go. I had no magic wand and felt shit.
We need D rides

Someone turning as you move up up on the inside in slow moving traffic is not your fault, especially when they didn't even signal!
Get well soon matey.
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
A beautiful summers evening made this the biggest turnout yet with 34 riders in 5 different groups!
We split the A run into 3 groups so thanks to Stu White and Mark Roberts for leading the other 2 A groups and Cèdric for the C, did someone lead the B?
Looks like the average speed was 20mph+ for most of the A's, 17.5mph B's and around 12.5mph for the C's.
Great riding everyone!!

Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
If it's any consolation Cedric, we had a similar issue on our run. We had a regroup about a third of the way in, quick chat and then got things running nicely. I think it's fairly important to note it's a 'no drop' ride, if you've joined a ride that isn't quick enough for you, be patient, then be brave and move on up the following week.
Cheers,
Stu

It's does not offer me any consolation, quite the contrary, makes me feel worse.StuartWhite wrote: ↑09 Jun 2021 17:06If it's any consolation Cedric, we had a similar issue on our run. The ride was fine for me. It was others who struggled with our first hour at 12.6mph. The rest of the group was seemingly ready to go faster.
I felt stuck like piggy in the middle unable to lead a ride to everyone's taste
But the advice for the fast riders to move in the faster ride the following week is easier said than done
We ended up clocking 14mph average, meaning that with a first hour at 12.6 we must have been around 15.5 average over the second hour. With B's running at 17.5, that's quite a bit of a step up.
Hence my earlier comment of us needing D rides on Tuesday. Or calling it differently 2 separate C rides: C- and C+
Re: TUESDAY 8TH CLUB RUNS
Having a D ride wouldn't solve the issue. Even if there had been a D ride I'd still have signed up for the C on Tuesday because usually that's a great pace for me. This week I had an off day and it wasn't fun trying to keep up and the group didn't seem inclined to slow down so I dropped out. That's not a judgement on your leadership of the ride, I wasn't having a good time so I chose to stop. You can't lead a perfect ride every time; it's not within your control (and hell, the other week my "leadership" on the C ride was very questionable, as you're aware!).
I love C runs because for being a chill social ride that isn't too worried about pace that I can both enjoy and push myself on. I've been on some great ones recently and I hope there will be plenty more of them in the future.
