As agreed with some during our ride 10 days ago, I'll be leading a ride to Tewkesbury this Sunday.
Route will be https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35686060
I am not advertising this as a C ride as it is a long ride, far longer than what is considered a C ride. Pace target 14mph so top of the usual C speed range. Do not join if this is too long or too fast.

There will be a short stop in Tewkesbury (like Coffee#1 or similar) for 20 minutes. Please bring mask and cafe locks.
It will not be like last time a stop of 1 hour or more. After 30 minutes max I'll be on my way back north. With the weather forecast, please bring lots of fluids (2 bottles strongly advised IMO) and possibly sun cream too.

Meeting at the BH for 8:30. Departure at 8:40 or earlier if the whole party is there before 8:40.

Hi Chris,
8:40 departure + 5h45 (80 miles at 14mph) + 1/2hr cafe stop = approx 15:00
But Lewis Geoff and I are currently considering moving it to Saturday to avoid Sunday scorching weather and stick to a milder day. Should have made a decision by tomorrow (and will update this post accordingly is applicable)

OK Mark, In the end we'll stick to Sunday. Let's hope it won't be too scorching and that we will not suffer from heat stroke. At least it will be a good body acclimation training for the long ride to Weston super Mare in case we get the same weather

Hi Michelle,
it would be a pleasure to meet you and ride with you. Regarding the time we'll be back, you can see per my answer yesterday evening that we should be back at the BH for 3pm BUT I cannot provide a total warranty. If we get a slow service at the cafe, or we have a **flat** or mechanical, or the heat takes its toll on some and we have to slow down a bit...
If you have a super important appointment maybe best not to tempt it. Or you can come and dash off ahead on the way back if you see we're too slow, but would then miss part of the fun being in a group.

You're more than welcome, but remember, the target is 14mph, not 18mph

Thank you - I would be happy to do a steady ride - if Andy is coming and time is getting on, I may jump on Andy's wheel (I am used to that and so is her!!! hee hee!!) and get home hopefully by 3pm - thanks - if anything changes, I'll message on here. We could always start at 8am??????????????

I did indeed see Andy the white knight step in to act as your personal safety pacesetter in case we plod along too slowly
While I could do 8:00 and this might marginally get us an extra 1/2hr in the cool, I feel bad trying to survey everybody about a change of start time. I already asked some about possibly changing to Saturday. Now if I also attempts to check if we can get unanimity on a 8:00 start I'll get an even bigger reputation for unreliability.

I'm planning a ride to Tewkesbury tomorrow using mostly the same route, starting from Bromsgrove, and leaving early. If you see me on the road give me a wave!

I think you'll be 20-30 min ahead of me but I'll look out anyway

Having been out today (Saturday), may I suggest that you get well hydrated before you set off, put on and take some suncream, else you will suffer in the evening!

Not for me, but a friend and potential Beacon member would like to join this ride. Her name is Lizzie and she'll be at the BH at 0830!

Thanks for the advice. I went specifically into town to get a mini sun cream tub. I'll have 2 bottles and will refill in Tewkesbury. It's the heat I am concerned about. Let's hope I'll bring most of them back alive

Thank you for the ride yesterday - it was enjoyable - sorry, I had to get back - all went well on the way home with Andy and I had time to have a rest before travelling to High Wycombe to see my friends.
