D Run -Sunday 11th July 9 AM - Avoncroft Museum - 40 miles
UPDATE: riders present...
Chris Yan (leading)
Marie-Lucie Gioan
Jason Green
David Little
Following another successful intro ride yesterday I will lead a 40 mile D run to Avoncroft Museum Tearooms in Stoke Heath this Sunday. We will go south towards Feckenham on the way and return via Wychbold. There is outdoor seating at the cafe but you will need a mask to order inside the café . The hillier bits are on the way back but there is nothing to be afraid of- the overall elevation gain is only about 50 feet per mile
The pace will be 11-12 mph or the pace of the slowest rider (we will stick together in any case).
The route is here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36497801
For newer riders please read the club run guidelines below and also provide me with your contact number for test and trace purposes if you haven't done so already (feel free to direct message me via the message board):
http://beaconrcc.org.uk/club-runs/club-run-guidelines/
Please also have an emergency contact number/ICE sticker on you or send me a direct message with details of your emergency contact.
Here are some photographic highlights to whet your appetite.
Please meet at 8:50 for a 9AM start from the Black Horse. Add names by posting below (8 riders max.):

Thank you for putting my name down, Chris. I am a little worried about adding another 10 miles, but hey, one only lives once !!! See you on Sunday

I’m up for this one Chris
And from what I saw on Sunday Marie-Lucie, you’ll be fine, only 10 miles more!

You might want to double check upon the weather. Last week, the cafe was only offering take-outs on account of social distancing and the recent bout of vandalism to the cafe's windows by thugs.

Thanks Philip. You wouldn't happen to know of an alternative café around there would you?Philip Whiteman wrote: ↑06 Jul 2021 08:24You might want to double check upon the weather. Sorry I cannot think of one. Otherwise, it is place like the Jinny Ring, Hanbury Fisheries or Chaddesley Rowberry's. Andy Terry may know of one in Aston Fields.

There’s a decent cafe at the water park at Wychbold which would only be a mile or two detour?

Yeah Chris that’s the one, age affecting my memory!

Yep, that's where we went last week with the intro. Not huge amounts of space, but there's extra uncovered seating. Excellent bacon sandwich too, and coffee!

Thanks to everyone that came on the ride today. Everyone was brilliant! We averaged a pace of 12.5 mph which is great for a D run

Thanks all for a great ride out today, thoroughly enjoyed it. Our alternative route up Dayhouse Bank will forever be known as “Dave’s Way”

Hello, are there going to be any more of these D runs coming up? I came on the July intro ride but couldn’t make this. Very keen to do one. Is there a schedule of when they’re likely to be held or do we just have to keep checking the forum?
Cheers

It's not official yet but someone is planning a D run for next Sunday, 8 August, which will be very similar in distance and pace to the July intro ride. If you keep an eye at the top of the club run page the details should be posted there (may be towards end of the week before it appears)
Best wishes
