Club runs for the weekend of 11th July

Post by WorcsPhil » 05 Jul 2021 08:24

Hi all,

huge congratulations to the 7 guys who rode down to Weston Super Mare and back over the weekend. It seemed the weather was not as bad as forecast, and those that rode were rewarded with a great weekend. There is an excellent write-up from Si Walker on the separate thread below...well done all.

Thanks also to those who rode and led at the weekend, that's Phil Gameson and David Jones who communicated brilliantly on the Intro Ride and led a largely dry ride hopefully. Thanks David and watch out for the next Intro ride at the beginning of August.

So this week's events. Not only do we have (hopefully) a full set of club runs for this weekend, there are two further Beacon events to bring to your attention...it is the high season for cycling after all!

- On Saturday 10th July, Beacon are hosting the West Midlands Grass Track Championships at Queensbridge & Bishop Challenor school field. Racing starts at 11am and this event is for various youth age groups up to U13's. We have a full timetable of events, and be great to get Beacon kids along, or even the kids of members. See the separate thread for details, and if you can, please give some time to the club to volunteer and help out at the this event. You may only have a couple of hours free, but why not go along and help put things up, or take them down, or marshal the route...it'll be a fun day, so do something different and help out!

- On Sunday 11th July, it is Beacons road bike open TT...another likely day of fast times and excitement...why not volunteer to help out or go along and shout out support. This is another great event and is followed a week later by the Janet Kelly Open 10 TT...one of the most prestigious open TT's in the Midlands.

So there is lots going every week at the moment...help out where you can, and also be good to get a full set of club runs for this coming weekend and on Tuesday's midweek bash...don't wait for others, get you ride down on a separate thread and people will come!

Oh, and Ian Taylor is on his second rest day on his grand Tour 21 adventure (riding every stage of the Tour de France one week ahead of the pro race)...It's been a desperately hard week with endless hills and distance so he deserves a good rest today. Six stages to go, Ian!

Have a good week, you are only ever one bike ride away from being in a good mood :D
