Club runs for the weekend of 25th July

Only one place to start on this Monday round-up and that's Martin Osman from CC Giro/Warwickshire Road Club. You will have heard by now that Martin took part in last Wednesday's Beacon Time Trial, but was tragically killed in a collision with a car. This is not the place to pontificate theories on what happened to cause this crash, but to remember a fine cyclist, but more importantly a fine human being. He had a wife and three children and we can only offer our deepest sympathy to his family. This is a tragedy when this happens, and it seems to happen far too often these days, and it makes you reflect on this sport/pastime/obsession we all do...but as many of you have said, we should ride on. Yes, we are aware of the risks, but we need to shout out continually for better facilities and more wider acceptance of rider safety from other road users.

So, yes, we ride on...

It is the famous Kidderminster Killer Audax this Saturday, a gentle ride up hill and down dale, where all cyclists are serene in their love of Dr Philip Whiteman and his route planning :x ...for those doing this ride, enjoy, it's unlikely many will be out on Sunday.... but nevertheless, summer continues so please volunteer to lead a club run if you can. It's great we are getting more new leaders coming forward, and particular thanks to Kamran on his first ride lead at the weekend.

Despite the Covid rules being relaxed today, until this nasty disease has gone away properly, we will retain our system of Beacon club rides being set up in advance on separate threads, and you must sign up in advance to ride, accepting the ride leaders maximum number.

Thanks again, and please keep safe.
