Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 26th September

Post by WorcsPhil » 20 Sep 2021 10:15

Girl Power! It's obviously LEJOG season in September as both Helen Colson and Naomi Bell completed the Lands End to John O'Groats ride last week with Helen riding solo o'er gravel and hills and Naomi as part of the excellent Deloitte ride across Britain adventure, with an ex-member Gary Lowe also on the Deloitte ride. In addition, Pete Warwick is on day 3 as of Monday heading north as part of his solo attempt...well done and congratulations to all.

Club runs were a little thin on the ground at the weekend, but an excellent pub-based ride from Matt Hale on Saturday proved popular as did Mariana's C-ride on Sunday. Thanks also to Karl and the two Phil's - Gameson and Elwell - for sticking their head above the parapet and volunteering to lead a ride. It's the last Sunday of this year's (truncated) club run competition this coming Sunday so look out for the scores later in the week...

So what's in store for this lovely September week ahead...well the Tuesday night bash is on tomorrow of course and Paul Balfe's regular D-ride on Wednesdays is proving popular. Details of both are on the message board. Also, there is an unofficial Beacon Ride on every Thursday leaving from Tardebigge at 10am, with a tasty 18mph ride to a nearby cafe before a slower ride home... just turn up if this appeals.

...and get your club runs listed for next weekend in a separate thread...let's get a great club run turnout for the last weekend in September and a full range of club runs for everyone!

...and finally this Thursday sees the start of 5 successive floodlit training rides on the 400m banked track at Birmingham Wheels Park. All Beacon members 18+ are welcome and all the details are on this thread:

Why not go along, it sounds fantastic addition to your autumn cycling experience. By the way, this is completely free to Beacon members as the cost has been picked up by the club, so support Adrian who does a fantastic job in getting these ideas to fruition and go along!
