Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 3rd October

Could that have been the last warm sunny day of the year? Not for Stuart White it wasn't - Stu is riding the North Coast 500 over 3 days, nearly 300kms per day and had horrendous weather yesterday in the north west of Scotland, so think of that if you were sitting outside in the sunshine at a lovely cafe yesterday...best of luck Stu for the rest of your adventure.

Thanks to Paul Balfe, Michelle Thompson and Chris Cotter for leading rides on Sunday...there have been a couple of occasions in the last fortnight of A-rides being proposed but no take up from other riders...there may be a good reason for this, normally early starts...but let's get back to supporting club ride leaders please!

and...drum roll <@> the 2020/2021 club run champion can now be announced...It is our very own NEIL ORCHARD! I saw him on Sunday and whispered this to him, and he said it is the first trophy he has won since his school days, where he won a soap-on-a-rope in a spelling competition or something. Now I know this sounds like the opening line of an unsuitable joke, but it isn't and surely no one will begrudge him this well-deserved award. Create a space on your mantelpiece, Neil, it's coming home, it's coming home... Look at the separate thread for the complete scores for this club run season which finished on Sunday.

So what's in store this week. Good grief, there are things to do on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

- Tuesday, it's the last evening bash of the year starting at 6pm, get your name down and go along for a pacey blast through the night skies.

- Wednesday, there is another midweek Paul Balfe D-ride - see separate thread

- Thursday is the usual 10am Tardebigge unofficial Beacon ride and also the 2nd Beacon floodlit training ride on the 400m banked track at Birmingham Wheels...free to Beacon members, why not go along

- Saturday is Tiswas day (remember that), but also it is the 'Beyond the Dyke' Beacon Audax organised by Philip Whiteman. An excellent testing 200kms yomp starting and finishing in Belbroughton...big thanks to Phil for organising this and it will be great to see a sizeable Beacon contingent either riding or volunteering.

...and then Sunday is back to club runs and the start of the 2021/2022 season...why not go for an early lead and suggest a ride for others to join you...normal rules, propose your ride in a separate thread with details of length, speed and stopping location.

Enjoy whatever you are doing
