Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 10th October

Weekly Club Update:

Wasn't it great to see muddy cyclists back at Paris Roubaix, and ironically a rider called Sonny doing very well...but bigger congratulations to Lizzie in the women's race, and isn't it a disgrace that this was the first ever Paris Roubaix for women, it was just as eventful as the men's race with star riders that are becoming as equally well known.

Anyway, the mud reminded me of the returning riders at Philip Whiteman's very wet 'Beyond the Dyke' audax which took place on Saturday. A great event and a lovely course, but heavy rain meant only half the field started, so congrats to the three Beacon riders who took part...Helen Colson (does she ever give herself an easy ride!), Simon White and Alberto! Big thanks again to Philip for organising these events so well and looking after the riders with copious amounts of food at the HQ upon finishing.!

No doubt the riders at the 5th WMCCL 'Cross event in Meriden were also muddy...be good to get a weekly report on these as there seems to be a Beacon crew at each one.

...and the usual thanks to the club run leaders, Gemma, Nick, Paul and Richard...excellent work all, and you were no doubt rejoicing that the club runs were on sunny Sunday rather than the Saturday best forgotten!

So onto this week, Tuesday night runs are now finished for the season, and kudos to the club run champion Neil Orchard for getting these off the ground earlier this year...they'll be back next Spring, but I see that there is a call out for a off road Tuesday replacement, so register your interest for that if you can. Details on the message board here.

In addition, the Thursday night training event at Birmingham Wheels has 3 more weeks of adult riding (18:30pm)...please go along to that and it's free for Beacon members.

Club runs will return this weekend, and I see that temperatures will be a balmy 16c at the weekend, so let's have a full set of club runs proposed please...build it and they will come.

...and finally, It's the Beacon 75th Anniversary meal on Saturday 13th November...tickets are going well and with a packed programme of things to do/watch on the evening including a Q&A with Ned Boulting and a set from DJ Vince, what's not to like...get your tickets sooner rather than later.

See you soon
