Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 17th October

Post by WorcsPhil » 11 Oct 2021 10:02

Weekly Update:

Aren't warm October days simply the best to quote Tina Turner? Yes they are is the answer, and it was great to enjoy the weekend with a number of club runs, and the usual thanks to all the riders who came out and particularly the leaders who set them up. You know who you are, but thanks to Gemma, Ewan, Nick, Paul B and Dave Cole.

Club runs are the heart of any cycling club and it is good to see so many coming along every week, both old stagers (no offence) and new riders prepared to listen to the old stagers' oft repeated whimsy...and as I've said many times, you can propose any ride as a club run...there's a good chance that you'll be supported in anything from 30kms to 500kms!

Quickie on club guidance...if there are any issues or crashes or injuries on a club run, please can the club ride leader or anyone on the ride let me know via a private message either here or on messenger or via email. Although club runs are at at our own risk, it is club procedure to list and assess any accident so that we can make changes if we see fit. Thanks

So what's happening this week?...there are the rides going out on Wednesday and Thursday (Tardebigge 10am) daytime as usual and there is a call to replace the Tuesday night summer bash with an off-road canal weekly jaunt on Tuesdays in the autumn/winter...see separate thread on this and let James know if you're keen, good to get this off the ground if we can:

Don't forget that we still have our kids and adults Thursday night bash at the closed circuit at Birmingham Wheels. This is free for Beacon members and everyone who's gone along says it is great fun, so why not join Ade and others this week!

The Snowdrop/Sunrise Audaxes (121kms - so more than manageable) are back on Saturday 26th February 2022 and registration is now open...check out the details here:

...and finally, our friends at UoBCC who ride with us regularly are hosting a stage race next Saturday so if you are interested, why not race or even better volunteer to help as they're looking for volunteers? Fella in charge is Arthur Boulton (ACB036@student.bham.ac.uk). Link to the event:

Have a good week

Phil
