Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 19th December

WEEKLY UPDATE:

What a gorgeous, balmy day Sunday was, and great to see a number of club rides out enjoying the muddy lanes...we even saw people in shorts, bare arms, no gloves, it was lovely! Thanks as usual to the ride leaders namely, Pete Norman, Paul Balfe, Matt Hale, Phil Gameson, Nick Shenton and Louise Crowley leading her first ride...excellent Louise!

Last week also saw the latest Beacon Bulletin emailed to all members, hope you enjoyed it...we never get back any response, so we have to presume you were all agog at the carefully written words and beautifully positioned photographs :D

It was also the AGM last Thursday, where we had 25-30 or so members along and great to see that people were volunteering for both Membership Secretary and confirming Kyle Gatier as our new Racing Secretary. You may have seen Kyle's MB request to gauge volunteer interest in Beacon part-sponsoring a series of races at Birmingham Business Park next year. It would be great if we got 5% of our Beacon members to help, which is only half of the usual 10% estimate of people prepared to volunteer in the UK [Source: The internet]. Why not put yourself forward to help out, more details here:

The sad news from the AGM was that Gemma Johnson was stepping down as TT Secretary, but there are plans afoot to keep our 2022 TT series going and to organise our TT open events of which we are famous across the nation...we'll keep you informed of our emerging plans in the New Year.

So this coming Sunday sees the annual Chaddesley Corbett run where people gather at the pub to celebrate Christmas amongst like-minded souls...so everyone is invited, and club runs heading out to Chaddesley are likely to happen. We're aware that not everyone will want to gather however, so other smaller clubs runs elsewhere are also encouraged.

Whatever you do, this is the last weekend before Christmas, so make sure you ride your old bike one last time before Santa delivers your new shiny bicycle with stabilisers on the 25th.

Have fun everyone and don't forget to sign up to Kyle's request or else we'll send someone round...we know where you live  :D

Phil
