Christmas A ride to the Swan

Post by neilo » 14 Dec 2021 20:56

I'll lead another ride ending up at the Swan in Chaddesley, we'll stop off at Rowberries for bacon then 10 minutes around the corner for beers afterwards.
The complete route back to the Black Horse is around 46 miles.
Here is the route- Check out this route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/routes/2905939864719005858 — Beacon Christmas club run to the swan!
Leaving the Black Horse at 9.15.

In view of Tony's understandable decision to pull the plug on the booze-up at the Swan, do you plan to go ahead with a ride on Sunday, Neil?

My personal feeling is that the level of infection risk associated with a club run plus café stop is much lower than that associated with spending several hours together inside a crowded pub. Especially if the café has outdoor seating. So, unless and until official advice changes, I don't see why club runs shouldn't go ahead. Rowberry's does have a bit of outdoor seating, but perhaps isn't great on that score. However, your route could easily be amended to stop at Churchfields or Whitlenge, both of which have plenty of outdoor seating in less car-parky settings than Rowberry's.

I look forward to hearing about your plans.

Thanks for that George.
I intend to keep this route for Sunday, if everyone is ok with this this we'll go to the Swan and sit in the garden for a quick beer as there is adequate seating in a large spacious area.

Stopping at Rowberry's first, or skipping that and going straight to the Swan?

The Swan doesn't open until 12 o clock so Rowberries first probably.

Very cold, very foggy, a truly winter bicycle ride!
Bacon sandwiches and mince pies were enjoyed at Rowberries where there is loads of spacious seating, we then ventured to the Swan to enjoy a couple of beers where we virtually had the small bar to ourselves.
Thanks to everyone for the company.
Merry Christmas!!!
