Weekly Update

As John Lennon once sang...Merry Christmas, Covid is over!

So thank God we can all enjoy lunches out...what's that? ...It's back...bigger than ever...another lockdown...oh dammit. So as we wait to see what's in store for us after Christmas, let's thank the ride leaders as usual for last weekend, that's Richard Chaplin and Neil Orchard, whose group made it to the deserted Swan Pub for a cheeky pint and pork scratchings. On a serious note, you may have noticed on the message board a post from Philip Whiteman who had a crash at the weekend and someone else also crashed and had to stay still for quite a while...Phil had one of these emergency blankets (link below) with him and it proved invaluable for keeping that person warm on a bitterly cold day until help arrived...it may be prudent to carry one when the weather is very cold as any stops for crashes or any other reason can result in your body temperature dropping quite considerably...sound advice.

As usual as the year ends, Beacon members in cafes and pubs are planning their 2022 adventures and let's hope that they will come to pass and Covid recedes before the clocks go forward, as our emerging plans for strange and eccentric club rides are so beautiful that they will have to spoken in Italian and called 'Gite in bicicletta in gruppo'...which does sound better, eh?

No, I haven't had a drink. :D

Anyway, although next Sunday is Boxing Day, anyone is permitted to post a club run either on Sunday or the Monday or Tuesday Bank Holidays...There may not be many takers, but you may be surprised, sometimes all it takes is a volunteer to lead and everyone piles in...whatever you're up to, have a great Christmas and see you in 2022 for more of the same (drivel).

Enjoy your cycling.

Phil
