Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 6th March

Post by WorcsPhil » 28 Feb 2022 16:31

WEEKLY UPDATE

So a lot going on in the world of Beacon this week...first of all, thanks to all who rode and volunteered at the Sunrise/Snowdrop Audax on Saturday. It was a great day when it's sunny, there is a huge field of 225 riders, Beacon volunteers are out in force and all 225 riders return home safely, mostly with smiles on their faces... I have summarised some of the stats from the day elsewhere on the message board, so check that out...see you in 2023 for more of the same on this Audax.

Club runs obviously fell away as we had over 30 riders riding the audax on Saturday, but thanks are due to Celia Brown and Mariana Sorrill for leading the two club runs that did go out...please don't forget to list the full names of people who rode somewhere on your message board thread, as I use this to compile the club run scores...

Couple of other things, but the summer kit order is now live but only until NEXT SUNDAY 6TH MARCH...SO please don't delay. To order anything, please go onto our Santini page and order direct...the orders will arrive with Neil and he will let everybody know when it has arrived.

Also note that we have arranged a free first aid course for members that volunteer to do things for the club. The course is a 6-hour course as all successful finishers of the course will be accredited first aiders, which is becoming more of a requirement for our events...At the time of writing 7 of the 12 spaces are taken, so get you name down quick if you can make it. Not only that, but the Beacon TT Calendar is now live... George Lazenby is leading the organisation of our TT series this year, and big thanks to him for stepping up. Quite a few initiatives this year, and the first event is only 4 weeks away. The details are all here:

...and finally to this week's club runs, it's the first weekend in March so there is an Intro ride for new members already arranged and other club runs are beginning to appear so get your name down either to lead or just ride. One thing to note is that Cedric is proposing a series of weekly club rides building up to a 300kms ride later in the summer...members are invited to join Cedric on any of these rides even if you do not intend to ride the big distances later in the series... Huge thanks to Cedric for proposing this 2022 adventure for those who perhaps have not even envisaged riding a 200kms ride before, let alone a 300kms ride...Vive les nouveaux randonneurs :o :o ...Let' support him on this adventure and good luck to all those who commit to this!

See you next week

Phil
