Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbow. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender this makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.

Actual attendance:
Cedric G. (L)
Graham Gamblin
Ian Gannon (Not BRCC)
Kamran Anwar (left after about 20 miles as had to go back home early)
Keith Adcock
Mark Stammers
Naomi Bell
Paul Balfe
Robert Wade

Thanks to all for coming. Hope you enjoyed what looked like a pleasant early spring ride.
All nice except that it went a bit tits up 10k from the end when arriving at the top of weatheroak hill. But hopefully everybody seems to have made it home safely.

For those who asked and want to know what happened: Was trying to stay behind so that Paul could still see us and not lose hope. Then saw Naomi taking a wrong turn south-east down watery lane (south), so went to tell up this was not the shortest way back to hers. By the time back up I catch Paul up down weatheroak hill, turned in watery lane (north). Paul's disappeared. Waiting for him ... waiting... must have carried on on radford road. So back on the original route, blasting to catch the main group. After a while I can see that they're not going to stop to regroup, so decided to turn left into Stonehouse lane for a slightly longer way back via Barnt green. Discovered that the group finally turned back and went all the way back weatheroak hill. We must have missed each other by very little.
Lesson of the day: unless clearly explicitely said 'go ahead' we should wait for the slowest, and regroup more often.

Hi Ced

I was fine today, was expecting to fall behind once got to Earlswood so no problem from my side
Went down Radford Rd towards Alvechurch and through Barnt Green
i think we are all old enough to know what ride we are on and speeds so if someone falls behind consistently then ask if they are ok with it and if they are happy then concentrate on the group as a whole.

Really enjoyed todays ride ☺ and the company so not too worry Ced, alls well that ends well 😀👍😄
Thank You

Paul B

Hi Paul, I know you were fine and enjoyed it despite a bit faster than last week.
Call me old-fashioned but I did not get a clear 'it's OK, go ahead, I'll stroll along on my own for the rest' so you were still part of the ride as far as I am concerned. Once I led a ride and a couple of persons fell behind and felt left out and I got some sticks for it.
Not always easy to lead when a group is not fully homogeneous.
What matters most is that I trust everyone enjoyed the day out (maybe not those who eventually turned back and had to climb weatheroak hill :) )
