A-Ride to Gilks' Garage Café, Kineton - Sunday 20th March (9am start)

Post by WorcsPhil » 14 Mar 2022 15:18

Hi,

I'll take the A-ride this week to a new cafe (I think), which is Gilks' Garage Café in Kineton, which is about 5 miles the other side of Wellesbourne. Meet at 08:50 for a 9am start at the Black Horse.

The route is 118kms BH to BH, out via Henley and back via Stratford and Bidford. Speed will be about 17mph on a route similar to this:

Next Sunday is the 13th, but thinking a week ahead, it's a well-known fact that nothing ever happens on Sunday March 20th, so that is now a 'Club Run Reunion day' :D . We are hoping for at least 3 traditional club runs, all leaving the Black Horse at 09:15
:?: 🤔

Aaahh, life is worthless without flexibility and change, eh? Ride with the flow and all that :D

...Anyway, good to see you back out, Matt. Hope to see you soon.

<@>

Thanks Phil, yes realised that the number of rides next week might be influenced by those riding the Mad March Hare...

Unfortunately I won't be out on Sunday (due to other commitments)

Phil,
I'll have a go at hanging onto everyone's coat tails out to Kinetin.

An excellent ride out to Kineton and the famous Gilks' Garage cafe. When we got there, it was heaving, and full of vintage and new Porsches, loads of motorbikes and other cycling clubs, it is obviously a hub of activity when it is open. Despite a queue of around 10 people when we got there, we got a table and the food was actually pretty quick to arrive given the amount of people there...so a worthy destination for a future club run, although be warned, it might only be 5 miles from Wellesbourne, but there's a fairly hefty hill in between. You can book ahead for a guaranteed table which may be worthwhile next time.

Thanks to the riders who were, in alphabetical order:
Phil Gameson (Rode a third of the route with us)
Fiachra O'Hare
Phil Richards (leading)
Michelle Thompson, and the Sciatica twins themselves...
Simon Woodward
Andy Wrightson

Superb to see young Fiachra out. Only 17, rides like a veteran and is riding the 3-stage Tour of Wales later in the year...great to see you, matey
