Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 24th April

WEEKLY UPDATE:

The cycling gods were in a funny mood at the weekend, in that it was perfect weather for cycling, but news of a couple of crashes for Kyle Gatier in his race at RAF Cosford, and for Simon White on a roundabout marred it a little...luckily both have escaped with cuts, bruises and rashes rather than anything more serious, so more chocolate for them is deserved. More audax rides were again ridden at the weekend, and top kudos this week goes to Karl Walton and Michael Stanford, who rode the little matter of 638kms on Friday/Saturday...which was a 600kms audax...errr with a 30kms wrong turn. That's just what you want, eh?

There were three club runs at the weekend, so thanks to Michelle for leading today (Monday), and to Dave Cole and to Cedric who continues to up the distance each week on his cunning plan to get a 300kms ride completed later this year. His ride went to the Straw Kitchen pottery cafe in Whichford, which is a great little cafe out in the sticks...sourdough bread, crispy bacon, and a toilet so rustic, many prefer to crouch in a bed of nettles in a nearby field...have you ever been pressurised to go in a dry hole containing straw, whilst people are impatiently waiting outside? It's a bucket list destination, not least as it is the only toilet in the UK formally approved by Extinction Rebellion :D .

Onto more palatable things...Next Sunday (24th April) is the Little Mountain Time Trial (LMTT). It all kicks off at 8am at Great Witley, and we suspend club runs on this day unless you're going out to support the LMTT. There are a couple of club runs doing exactly that, and that's great. Big thanks to John Hitchcock and his band of helpers for organising this years' LMTT event and to all the Beacon marshals, timekeepers and photographers helping out on the road. Why not go along and support all the riders, giving an extra decibel of cheer for anyone in a Beacon top of course.

Club runs are back the following weekend, but all roads lead to Gt Witley this Sunday!

Keep happy

Phil
