A New Year with some new audaxes

Post by Philip Whiteman » 31 Dec 2022 19:47

A NEW YEAR WITH AUDAXES OLD AND NEW FOR 2023: Don’t forget to add them to your diary.

2023 will see the return of old favourites along with some new audaxes from North Worcestershire. With six calendar events in total, you will be spoilt for choice. Phil Richards and the Beacon RCC set the ball rolling with the well established and extremely popular Sunrise and Snowdrop Express.

2022 was a good year for our events. The most noticeable trend was excellent weather conditions. The winter Sunrise and Snowdrop Express started the off year with ambiently warm conditions, something that repeated itself across all our audax events right up until November’s Salinae and Cotswolds.

Mike Haddon is planning Wyre Forest CRC’s first ever audax event in June, a 100 round-trip from Stourport to Hay. For the Beacon, I am organising a route through rarely ridden Radnorshire, called Friday Ferlix and for Droitwich CC, a 114km route called South Shropshire Hills as a preparatory ride for the Kidderminster Killer or anybody else that appreciates a shorter hill ride.

Have a great New Year and we sincerely hope to see you next year. With the exception of ‘Day Trip to Hay’ and ‘South Shropshire Hills’. Look out for the latter two in coming weeks.
