200km DIY Audax routes to/from the Black Horse

Post by WorcsPhil » 22 Nov 2023 16:36

It has been suggested that we have a library of 200kms routes that people can use for when they need to ride a 200 at short notice.

These two routes below are suitable for winter 200's as they are quite flat, on largely familiar roads, and avoid very small lanes that invariably become very muddy in winter. Please feel free to post routes here for DIY audaxes. You can obviously post 100kms rides, 200 or 300kms rides as you see fit and Nick is proposing a 250kms to the top of the Cat and Fiddle for April 2024, so watch this space:

Option 1: To/from the Black Horse with stop options in Pershore, Beckford, Mickleton, Shipston or Wellesbourne...you pick

Option 2: Even flatter 200kms route to/from the Black Horse, with stop options in Upton, Beckford, Pershore and Bidford

Please feel free to add more... I can heartily recommend the Beckford Post Office cafe, the best sausage sandwich this side of Mozambique

This is great, thanks Phil.

Bit of a noddy question, if you just ride one of these, do you get it validated somehow after?

Hi Andy,

first of all, a huge well done for your first 200...they're good fun, eh? although sometimes type 2 fun of course.

I have added quite a few 200kms ride onto the RidewithGPS club account and they can be ridden as an Audax DIY. You have to set things up in advance but everything is explained here, or just ask one of the Beacon randonneurs, as we ride DIY 200's all the time and once you've done it a couple of times, you can set it up in 3-4 minutes each time.

Good luck
