Lost 14km on exactly the same route: cycle computers - huh!

Post by Philip Whiteman » 28 Aug 2011 20:04

I have ridden exactly the same DIY audax route from home to Wemouth with the same computer and on the same bike . How on earth can the second ride be fourteen kilometres shorter than the previous occasion? Fortunately, both times were in excess of the randonee minimum and pre-verified by AUK. Even more odd was the second ride was 1.5 hours faster.

Cycle computers are not scientifically reliable instruments but they can't be that bad, surely? :?

I'd say either... electrical interference the first time which exaggerated the reading, or some sort of dropout of the sensor the second time which resulted in less than the whole ride being logged...
It's all about the bike.

So, if my maths is correct, you were averaging 10kph. Welcome to the club, Phil.
