Winter Ride to Cricklade anyone?

Post by Philip Whiteman » 02 Dec 2011 16:50

Anyone fancy a winter ride at randonee distance. Date tbc based upon the weather. Possibly the 17th December.

For my December Randonee attempt, I shall be riding a DIY audax from Chaddesley to Cricklade via Winchcombe, back via Broadway. Whilst the route passes over the Cotswold hills twice, there and back, the only bugger of an ascent is the climb out of Winchcombe.

The half way cafe at Cricklade is excellent and cyclist friendly.

Half tempted by this. A bit easier than the last ride we did together?

Thanks Paul.

I have not yet received approval for the route from AUK yet. So failing that, I may well opt for a permanent instead, see the Cheltenham Clee Flyer at:

http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/message_boa ... 0&start=33

I would not call it flat though. With passages over Clee and Cleeve Hills plus the roller coaster between Ludlow and Ledbury, it is reasonably hilly but nothing approaching Killer standards. The section from Winchcombe and home is a breeze.

----EDIT----

AUK have now approved the Cricklade route.

But where is the fun with clean water when we can talk about poo?

With my knowledge about the Water Quality Framework (Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council), I now realise that I have a kindred spirit in the form Alan. We must have a discussion at some time.
