Mad March Hare 2013

Post by jdtate101 » 03 Mar 2013 15:37

Who took part and what time did you post??

According to the strava segment for the ride I did 4:16:43. I did my usual trick of going off too fast and ran a short of energy for the last 10miles. If I had fuelled and paced myself a bit better I think I could have gone sub 4hrs...maybe. I will have to test that out next year :D

I did it. It felt a long 73 miles. Garmin didn't work, forgot to start it, missed the feed station turn (and had forgotten my money). Apart from those mishaps, a good event! Well organised and friendly I thought.

Good ride James...my Strava shows 4:20 cycling time (4:28 with the stops), and pleased with this given my normal weakness in hill climbing....Not sure I could get the sub 4-hour you're targeting though. That big climb would have been nasty in wet weather, luckily all the mud had dried off!

Hey Claire, the feedstation had a lot of free stuff, you didn't really need any money...makes it a long ride without a sit by a radiator for a few mins to re-energise...Hope you enjoyed it anyway.

Agree it was a good ride and well organised, but it did mean that we missed Laurence and Greg's ride to Ray's Farm this week, which no doubt had some nasty climbs also.

Phil. I actually missed the turn for the feed station and was too far away by the time I realised. It wouldn't have mattered as I could stop at the shop.. Except I had no money. A kind rider shouted me a drink and food. Otherwise it would have been 74 miles on one oatcake and a few peanuts!!
