NEW BEACON EVENT: The Autumn Audax

Post by Philip Whiteman » 01 Dec 2016 14:48

The Autumn Audax - "Autumn Rivers" - 7th October 2017

Next October sees a new audax from the Beacon. The route will change each year to provide variety and interest. The routes will be moderate in terms of topography and nothing like The Kidderminster Killer.

This event has been introduced to replace the death of the dearly beloved 200km Cotswold Expedition.

The 2017 Autumn Rivers is a no-nonsense audax. You can expect a great route with great riders in the true audax spirit without sportive prices. The route makes the most of autumn passing through Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, whilst crossing the rivers Avon, Severn, Wye and Teme. With flat and hilly bits there will be plenty to keep entertained but the route is not obscenely difficult. Light refreshments and plenty of cake will be available at the HQ. En-route, riders will need to pick up their own proofs of passage (receipts, etc) for their brevet cards. There are plenty of cake loaded cafes along the way.

Route

Controls include: Bromyard, Ross-on-Wye, Winchcombe. Starting and finishing at the Belbroughton.

Future Autumn Audax routes may include 'An Autumn Dash to the Malverns & Dean'; 'Autumn Beyond the Dyke'; 'The Autumn Wenlock Fiddler'; 'Autumn in the Cotswolds'.
