This event is also known as Kings, Castles and Priests operated in December. It is a pleasant route which uses mainly lanes and decent A/B roads throughout. The lanes through the hilliest section of the route between Ludlow and Presteigne are worn and potholed, so care should be taken. Care should also be taken between Ledbury and Bromyard with particular attention to a descent after Wellington Heath.

Whilst only scoring 1.75 AAA points, the route is challenging in terms of climbing and not to be underestimated. The only flat section is on the few miles in and out of Tewkesbury, otherwise it is undulating. Four nasty climbs are encountered; three of them between Ludlow and Presteigne and the final after Hoarwithy on the last stage from Allensmore.

There are plenty of opportunities for refreshment stops until Allensmore. Allensmore has a superb garage shop for stocking up with decent food and drink.
