Paris - Brest - Paris 2019?

Post by caashford » 21 Aug 2018 18:49

Has anyone from the club done Paris - Brest - Paris before? Experiences?
Is anyone thinking about it for 2019? I was wondering about London - Edinburgh - London, but realised that this is going to be a couple of years from now. When I say "wondering", I'm really just opening up general chat!

Wow! I hope to the high heavens I'm still able to knock out rides like that in my 50's and 60's, let alone my 70's.
Cheers,

Stu

Re: Paris - Brest - Paris 2019 / Super Randonneuring

Post by caashford » 19 Sep 2018 15:54

For anyone thinking of joining the Beacon Randonneurs on the route to PBP qualification (or just super randonneuring) the following rides have been identified on the Audax Calendar. These will sell out pretty quickly as are key requirements for PBP qualification. All are local events organised by Mark Rigby / BlackSheepCC so guaranteed rice pudding at the finish.

12/01/19 - 28/04/19 - 200k TBC
13/03/19 - 300k - A Rough Diamond
04/05/19 - 400k - Brevet Cymru
25/05/19 - 600k - BA Summer Tour

Chris, I have not checked out your suggested events but just make sure that they are all BRM registered. This is shown on the calendar entry page. http://www.aukweb.net/events/pbp/

Don't leave it too late to enter, as the longer BRMs are usually sold-out. I see that the 600km Brian Chapman is already closed to entries.

Thanks for the head's up Phil. I'm just checking some details with Phil Richards. I only have Mark Rigby's A Rough Diamond as my 300k for pre-registration, where as a few have the irish mail 4005, and others have various rides for 2018.

The 2019 rides look like they are all RM events. We just need to sort a 200k too.

I don't know why I am worrying about this. Not getting in, might be a good thing! ;-)
