From the organiser of this audax in Gloucestershire....

Hello

I am organising a 100k Audax on the 15th September and would like to invite Beacon members to take part.

Details here: http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/19-957/

Michael Sutton

104km cycling event starting from Corse, Gloucestershire. Controls at Goodrich and Much Marcle, plus 2 information controls.

From the Chartist settlement of Corse across the Vale of Leadon, through the Wye Valley and across the Welsh Border (the River Monnow) into Monmouthshire, visiting several castles. Back through cider country.

Starting in Corse, the ride first travels to the historic market town of Newent then onwards skirting the top edge of the Forest of Dean to the first control at Goodrich Castle in time for elevenses. From there it passes over the border into Wales at Skenfrith then up to Grosmont before turning back into England. Border country turns to verdant orchards and the second control stop at Weston's Cider. A route mainly on quiet country lanes and B roads. Short stretches on A roads. Some on-road sections of National Cycle Network and the Newent Loop cycle trail. Varying road surfaces. Corse is on the A417 about 8 miles North of Gloucester and 5 miles South of M50 junction 2. The depart and arrivee are at the Queen Elizabeth II Playing Fields, home of Leadon Vale Cycling Club, at the south end of the settlement.
