Same YHA destination as before, Ilam Hall in Ashbourne

https://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-ilam- ... D4hoCh-0QA

Stopping Wednesday 31st May and returning Thursday 1st June.

I have pencilled it in with the YHA but they will only hold it for 48 hours, so I need to know of people intentions ASAP please.

I’ll only just be back from Portugal on Sunday, so will have to give this a miss, but great idea.

I've just spoken to YHA and while there is availability at the moment, private rooms are getting booked up.
I propose booking a private room for six with ensuite, which l think is £109
But that cost does not include my YHA discount.

Private room for six c/w ensuite booked and paid for, we have space for definitely one more, possibly two more.

But other private rooms of two, three and four people are currently available, but these are being booked up.

A huge thank you to those on the mini excursion that made for a great couple of days.

Overall, l think it all went according to plan, once we got out of Birmingham on the canal network. You only have to look at my Strava page to see the right royal mess we got ourselves in!

But once we got clear of the town it was plain sailing all the way to Ilam Hall YHA.

To be fair the weather could have been a bit warmer on day one, and the drizzle right at the start wasn't welcome either.

Day two was a bit overcast, but the instant climb at the start soon had everyone warmed up. 😀
By mid afternoon the sun had finally broken free and it warmed up quite nicely for the last 30 or so miles. Perfect end to the perfect ride to be honest.

Ilam Hall YHA is an absolute stunning venue, and if you like climbing, it's well worth a visit. I'll maybe look at a return visit but hopefully exploring some more new roads?

Im now retired so have more time to plan, so look out for the next midweek mini excursion.
