Thursday Night Rides

Post by PatBoySlim » 21 May 2013 16:54

A couple of years ago Andy Nott, Chris Robertson and Myself used to what can only be described as a training ride to get people from Intro ride to C and even B ride pace, It was a fast as the slowest person, some weeks 10 mph the next it could be 17mph average for the 25 miles.

We used to start from the man in the moon. Would anyone be interested in taking part ?

Yeah, I'd be up for that as I'm trying to work up to b run pace.

Won't be able to do 30th but would certainly be interested in future rides.

If the weather is ok, and looking the forecasts its going to be from 4pm onwards, this is the route we used to do:

I'll see you at 7 Pat  I know most of the roads but have never been up or down weather oak hill ( to my knowledge) looking forward to it, if nothing else it will get me away from the dreadful "Dead Enders"

Gotta pick the wife up from work first so should be there at 7 or just after. Looking forward to getting out.

Looks a good route - I think it just misses Weatheroak Hill as you'll turn left right at the top! I think it's 16% so a decent leg-tester if you fancy heading up it one day.

I'm not in Birmingham much for the next few weeks but would be up for these rides in July if they keep going? My average over 25 miles is only ever around 14mph though so only if that wouldn't hold you up!

Just got back from the first Thursday ride and really enjoyed it. Great route and enjoyed the company, cheers to both Pat and Paul. We're going to keep it going Charlotte so you'd be welcome to join us (the more the merrier) and like Pat said earlier in this thread:

forgot to post, good ride out tonight Pat, looking forward to a very sunny evening ride. Going home through Cotteridge, the smells coming from the Indian restaurants almost made me stop and buy one, it smelt SO good.

Can't make Thursdays anymore Pat/Pat. Have you any thoughts about possibly moving to Friday evenings? No worries if not. Cheers, Kev

that's a bummer Kev. What time do you finish work on a Friday ? I could get to StreetBike by say 3. 15 and we could go round Clent and Romsley or later as time wont be a problem for me.

Paul, I gotta pick my new bike up on Thursday at 4 ish but could maybe meet up with you later if that's any good. Usually we finish at 3 on a Friday so could meet up at say 330 at Streetbike in the future.

Just reading the Beacon Bulletin where these rides are mentioned....."Anyone who'd like to join in is invited to register an interest via the message board or contact Pat McCabe."

Pat came off on the C run yesterday and has fractured his arm so I don't think these will continue unless someone can join us. This week Thursday 13th Pat was not going to be able to make it, and neither can I.
