Good one, Andy. My ballot application was unsuccessful this year, but have a Plan B with a potential work connection, so still hope to be there....

Cheers Phil

Would be good if someone else was there I knew, but failing that I can't wait to race through London with no stopping at lights or traffic :)

Andy, managed to get a place. I did start another thread not realising this one was underway.

No worries, I actually should have put it in the sportive section. Glad someone else got a place, I had forget all about it until I got something through the post.

Andy, have you tried to register and pay? Tried a few times and not sure if the problem is at my end as web can't find the registration page!

Just went on the site and managed to pay first time for my entry. If you still have problems then maybe try a different browser, I used Safari if that helps.

Andy, thanks, managed to pay. Not sure if there is anyone else signed up? No pressure to commit, but have you considered travel and accommodation?

Im not quite sure what I'm doing yet, although I may go down on the Friday if I can sort out the accommodation as i will have Fridays off come June :)

I have noticed we need to definitely be there on the saturday to collect our chip etc. I prob won't drive, hate driving in London and also a lot cheaper and easier on the train so will prob take that option.

You any thoughts on what your doing?

It's true that you need to register beforehand to pick up your timing chip etc, but last year you could pick it up anytime from Thursday morning at the Excel Arena, which makes it easier than a Saturday pick up. My possible work entry is fading due to a large number of people not making it through the ballot, so I may need to nobble one of you the week before...

Andy, I have sent an email to a mate who rode it last year to get his take on accommodation, transport etc, will let you know.

Sounds like we need to watch our backs when riding in Worcester!

Go down the night before, stay with friends or whatever, book the NCP carparks which are on the web site. Early starts mean you ride up to the olympic park , there are more riders than last year, so arrive in time as the herding procedure is a big deal. Have a great day, haven't got in so far on the ballot so will probably ride for a charity.
My start was 0630 last year, i stayed in watford with my son, got up at 3, and drove to Finsbruy Pk car park. £15 pre booked. Rode up to the Park, There were lots of riders and signs, and police, so no problem finding your way. The trick however is at the end of the ride, to ride through the traffic back to where the car is. London is crowded by 3pm. 8)
and on the 7th day God created CLEATS..!

Andy, feedback from friend who did the ride last year was that he and his wife went on the Saturday by train, tavelling light. Went from Warwick Parkway to Marylebone, rode to their hotel near Tower Bridge. Went across to ExCel to register (advised to go early). On the day, 5 mile ride down A11. Did the ride and back to hotel, job done. Food for thought?
