India - Goa

Anyone ever had any experience of riding in India? Going to Goa and would really like to get out in the bike for a few days

I've done a few miles in Kerala on rented bikes from hotels - you have to be careful especially with buses and heavy vehicles who have little respect for cyclists and pedestrians or even small cars but its generally friendly and great fun.

Richard Kent has a house in Goa and rides there a lot each winter - watch out for vicious speed bumps - he will give you good advice

rented a old bone-shaker bike with 3 non-working gears that seem to weigh about 50 kg in kerala once and did a mini tour for 4 days including the mountains. its mad, colourful, noisy and exhilarating like everything else in india.
