Following our experiment last Sunday some of us going to ride to Hatton this Sunday on the tow path returning on the lanes. Meet at Black Horse as usual for 9.15 start. Probably best on MTBs not all the paths are to Birmingham's new standard.

Sticking to Andy's message Board discipline this other ride was a tale of sun mud and thorns.

We made it to Earlswood for coffee, sandwiches and cake and to Dynamic Rides bless them for inner tubes and track pump loan. Good time was had by all.

Dave Cox
Helen Jamieson (one thorn hitched a ride but no deflation)
Callum Beirne (2 flats I think)
Sahra Derkits (a selection of fast and slow deflations culminating in lift from Kings Norton)
Steve Smith (as reported under club runs, 1 flat and visit to every cafe in the neighbourhood, sorry we missed you Steve loved the bike!)
Charlie Pearson (two flats in Kings Norton Park so went home to play with his van!)

Dave, despite all the challenges it was a fun and enjoyable ride. The tyre is still inflated and I'm debating whether to see how long it goes before pancaking! Lol

Thank you for being the navigator!

You all need to go tubeless and avoid all those flats!

Thanks Dave. I can only claim 1 flat but by the time I had mine I thought the group needed to make progress rather than waiting again. I was expecting a mud-fest but the towpath seemed to be more of a thorn challenge. I'm pleased that you managed to escape any yourself, that tin of fairy repellent did the job admirably.

Unless anyone objects, I'm awarding points on the basis that:

you started at the usual time and place
there was a group of you
you rode to a cafe and back

Thanks Andy I think the true spirit and absurbity of a Beacon Club Run was observed throughout!

I ended up repairing the tube that originally went flat after the new tube deflated on pumping up. The tyre bead was exposed after the second attempt so I need to replace that. After about half an hour in Kings Norton Park I managed to get back ok and after looking at the route, I figured to catch you up I would need to shoot down the A41. The Genesis was out and ready but the van won. Shamed into failure today. I will redeem my honour........
